Why Won’t My Shearing Blades Cut Through The Wool?
If you are not getting a crisp cut through the wool it means Your gear is not sharp and no matter what you do it won’t cut the wool properly. Sometimes it can feel like you are pushing a loaded dump truck through the wool. This can cause wrist injuries for the shearer. It also tears the wool off your sheep instead of cutting the wool, which hurts your sheep. It will also make you, the shearer, upset and frustrated with your work.
QUALITY SHARPENING
Combs should be sharpened to enable efficient shearing. I offer full service sharpening of sheep, goat, camelid, horse, and cattle shearing/clipping combs and cutters. All combs are sharpened to make them sharp and ready to use. I use a proper high speed Grinder in conjunction with 40-60 grit emery papers. I can also polish the backs of your combs if they have become tarnished and no longer run smoothly.
All sharpening is done by me personally, I have over 20 years experience sharpening combs and cutters. I ensure that combs are ground to maximimum sharpness without wasting metal, prolonging the working life of the comb.
